Web Design for Louisville Small Businesses

For Louisville clinics, veterinarians, contractors and restaurants whose website should book the appointment, not just list the phone number.

A dog ate something it shouldn't have. It's 7 a.m. The owner searches for a vet, finds you, and your site says only "call during business hours".

This isn't a pet-owner problem. It's a site that answers "who are you" but not the question the owner actually has: can you see us, and when.

What we would do first for a Louisville business: search your service the way a new customer would, then time how long it takes on a phone to find out whether you can help today and how to book.

What Louisville customers search for

Louisville's consolidated city, the Louisville/Jefferson County metro government balance, had 641,962 people in the Census Bureau's Vintage 2025 estimates. Residents search for care and repairs: "vet near me open now", "physical therapy Louisville", "roof repair".

Visitors are a second audience for some businesses. The Kentucky Distillers' Association reports the Kentucky Bourbon Trail hosted 2.7 million visits in 2025, with about 80% of visitors from outside Kentucky and nearly 70 participating distilleries statewide. If you run a restaurant, bar or shop, those out-of-state visitors have no local knowledge and choose from what they see on a phone.

15.8% of residents aged 5 and over speak a language other than English at home, including 8.9% who speak Spanish, per the Census American Community Survey 2024.

Which Louisville businesses most need a better website

The Census County Business Patterns 2023 for Jefferson County count 20,164 establishments, 81.1% with fewer than 20 employees:

Health care leads here, as it does in Oklahoma City and Las Vegas. Clinics and vets live on appointments, so the website's first job is to show availability and take a request, on a phone, at any hour.

Mobile and speed

The Census survey on computer and internet use finds 91.2% of Louisville households have broadband, while 13.4% have a smartphone and no other computer and 14.1% rely only on a cellular data plan.

Google's Core Web Vitals set 2.5 seconds for the main content and 200 milliseconds for a tap response, on real mobile visits, plus a layout shift score of 0.1 or less. Booking widgets are often the heaviest part of a clinic site. We hand-code the page around them and reserve their space so the button doesn't jump.

ADA website accessibility

The Department of Justice's Guidance on Web Accessibility and the ADA, March 18, 2022, says Title III covers businesses open to the public and points to WCAG. Its list of common barriers includes poor color contrast, color used alone to show information, missing alt text, videos without captions, unlabeled forms and mouse-only navigation. For clinics, the "new patient" or "new client" form is the most important page to test with a keyboard and screen reader.

Local SEO with a Google Business Profile

Google ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence, and there's no way to pay for a better local ranking. For a vet or clinic, choose the most specific category, add services and attributes, keep holiday hours current, and answer reviews. If you take emergencies or same-day visits, say so in both the profile and the site.

An illustration with our assumptions: 300 visits a month and 3 in 100 book, which is 9 new clients. If an online request button moves that to 5 in 100, it's 15. At $200 average first-year spend per new client, six extra clients is about $1,200 a month.

When it's not worth it yet

If your appointment book is full for weeks and you are not taking new clients, keep the current site and fix the Google profile. Grow the site when you add a doctor.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a website cost for a Louisville veterinary clinic?

Our hand-coded sites are $2,660 once plus $17.50 a month hosting, or $122.50 a month with hosting and unlimited edits. Five pages are covered, and each page after the fifth is $70.

Can my Louisville clinic take appointment requests online?

Yes. If your practice software offers an online booking link, we build the site around it so the button is obvious and works on a phone. We can also route requests into your inbox or calendar automatically.

Do bourbon tourists matter for my Louisville business website?

For restaurants, bars and shops, they can. The Kentucky Bourbon Trail reported 2.7 million visits in 2025, about 80% from outside Kentucky, and those visitors find businesses through search and maps.

Does the ADA apply to my Louisville business website?

The Department of Justice says businesses open to the public must make their websites accessible and points to the WCAG standard as helpful guidance.

Do you have a Louisville office?

No. We work remotely with Louisville businesses over video calls and email, and you keep ownership of your domain and code.
