Web Design for Phoenix Small Businesses
For Phoenix owners whose busiest season is the hottest one, and whose customers search from a phone in a hurry.
It is 112 degrees and the AC just stopped. The homeowner has one bar of battery and three tabs open. Yours has not loaded.
This is not a pricing problem or a reviews problem. It is a first-screen problem: the number they need is buried under a slider.
What we would do first for a Phoenix business: open your site on a phone outdoors, on mobile data, and count the seconds until a customer can tap to call. Then remove everything that loads before that button.
Heat is the sales calendar
The National Weather Service's Phoenix extreme temperature records list 70 days at or above 110°F in 2024, the most on record, and a record streak of 113 straight days at 100°F or more, from May 27 to September 16, 2024. For cooling, pool, roofing, pest and auto trades, those months are when searches spike and when a slow site costs the most.
Phoenix is also big: 518.3 square miles of land in the Census Bureau's 2024 Gazetteer, with 1,673,122 residents in the 2024 American Community Survey. People search "AC repair Ahwatukee" or "pool service Arcadia" because they want someone close who can come today.
What Phoenix customers search for, and in which language
The ACS social profile shows 36.3% of residents aged 5 and over speak a language other than English at home, and the language table puts Spanish at 29.4%. A Spanish services page with the same phone number, and a note that you take calls in Spanish if you do, is usually the cheapest improvement available.
Which Phoenix businesses most need a better site
The Census County Business Patterns 2023 counts 109,863 employer establishments in Maricopa County:
- Construction, with 9,692 establishments, including 6,622 specialty trade contractors. HVAC, electrical, plumbing and roofing live on emergency searches.
- Real estate, with 8,251 establishments, 6,971 of them with fewer than five employees. Agents and small property managers need listing and service pages that do not look like everyone else's.
- Ambulatory health care, with 11,860 establishments, and food service, with 8,992 locations.
- Veterinary services, with 482 practices, where "open now", directions and an emergency number matter most.
Mobile and speed
The ACS internet table shows 10.6% of Phoenix households have only a smartphone. Google's Core Web Vitals targets are what we build to: main content in 2.5 seconds or less, taps answered within 200 milliseconds, and no layout shifts that move the call button as the page loads. We hand-code our sites, so there are no page-builder scripts to slow that first screen.
ADA website accessibility
The Department of Justice's March 2022 guidance says the ADA applies to the goods and services businesses offer on the web, that businesses have flexibility in how they comply, and that WCAG is helpful guidance. With 11.8% of Phoenix residents reporting a disability in the ACS profile, readable contrast in bright sunlight helps more people than you might think.
The 2024 Title II rule is only for state and local governments, such as the City of Phoenix and Maricopa County. It sets WCAG 2.1 Level AA, and an April 2026 interim final rule moved the deadline for large governments to April 26, 2027. It does not apply to your business.
Local SEO with a Google Business Profile
Google ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence. For a Phoenix service business, set your service area to the parts of the Valley you actually cover, list them on one clear service-area page, and keep your hours honest. If you do after-hours work in summer only, say so on both the profile and the site so nobody calls at midnight in December expecting you.
A worked example
A Phoenix AC repair company, as an illustration. Assume 1,200 phone visits a month in July and 3% call today, so 36 calls. Moving the call button to the first screen, adding a Spanish page and trimming the page weight raise that to an assumed 4.5%, or 54 calls. If 40% book at an assumed $250 average repair, that is 14 jobs versus 22, about $2,000 more in a peak month. These are assumptions to test, not results.
| Today | After |
|---|---|
| Hero slider loads before the phone number | Tap-to-call on the first screen |
| "Serving the Valley" | Named areas, matching the Google service area |
| Summer hours only on Facebook | Same seasonal hours on site and Google |
| English only | Spanish services page, same number |
Honest limits
If you cannot take more calls in July, a faster site mainly helps in shoulder months. Tell us your capacity first; sometimes the fix is a better booking form, not more traffic.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a website cost for a small business in Phoenix?
Our published prices are $2,660 once plus $17.50 a month hosting, or $122.50 a month with hosting and unlimited edits included. A two-page starter site is available for under $99.
What should an AC repair website in Phoenix show first?
A tap-to-call number, whether you offer same-day or after-hours service if you do, the parts of the Valley you cover, and your license and reviews. People searching in 110-degree heat do not scroll.
Should my Phoenix business website be in Spanish?
If your customers speak Spanish, translate the services and contact pages first. Census data shows 29.4% of Phoenix residents aged 5 and over speak Spanish at home.
Does the ADA apply to my business website in Arizona?
The DOJ says the ADA applies to what businesses offer on the web and leaves flexibility in how to comply, pointing to WCAG as helpful guidance. The 2024 rule requiring WCAG 2.1 AA is for state and local governments.
