Tennessee rules that matter

Tennessee's ELVIS Act, signed March 21, 2024 and in effect since July 1, 2024, adds a person's voice to the state's likeness protections, as PBS NewsHour reported. PBS reports that it is aimed at AI tools that replicate an artist's voice without consent. We do not build AI voice features that imitate a real artist without their permission.

The Tennessee Information Protection Act took effect July 1, 2025. Bass, Berry & Sims summarizes the thresholds: more than $25 million in revenue, plus data on 175,000 or more Tennessee consumers, or 25,000 or more with over half of revenue from selling personal information. Most small businesses fall below that.

For calls or texts with an AI voice, the FCC's February 2024 ruling confirmed the TCPA's prior express consent rule applies.

When to wait
