Marketing and AI Automation for Roofing Contractors
For roofing companies that pay the highest lead prices in home services and need every storm inquiry to become an inspection, a claim file and a signed contract.
The storm came through on Tuesday. By Thursday, three trucks with out-of-state plates were knocking on your customers' doors.
That is not a marketing problem. It is a trust and paperwork problem. After a storm, homeowners get more roofing offers than they can evaluate, and the company that looks accountable, answers fast and handles the insurance paperwork cleanly is the one they sign with.
What we would do first
We would check what a homeowner sees when they search your company name after a storm: your site, your reviews, and whether anything on it promises what the law does not allow. Then we would look at your cost per signed contract, not per lead, because roofing leads are too expensive to judge any other way.
Your website: proof for a skeptical buyer
A roof is a five-figure decision made under stress. The site has to prove you are local, insured and still going to be answering the phone in five years.
- Your registration, insurance and manufacturer credentials, stated plainly.
- A page that explains the insurance claim process step by step, from inspection to adjuster meeting to final invoice.
- Project pages with real photos of your own work, sorted by neighborhood.
- No promises about deductibles.
That last point matters in Texas. Business and Commerce Code § 27.02 prohibits a seller from paying, waiving, absorbing or rebating an insured's deductible without the insurer's consent, and requires contracts of $1,000 or more paid from an insurance claim to carry a bold notice saying so. A violation is a Class B misdemeanor. Lines like "we cover your deductible" belong nowhere on your site or in your ads.
Texas also has no statewide roofing license. The bill analysis for HB 3344 in 2025 stated that "Texas does not currently require a state-issued license for reroofing contractors", and the bill's history shows it stopped in the House calendar in May 2025. Without a license number to point to, your site carries the proof. Arizona is the opposite: roofers need a Registrar of Contractors license, and A.R.S. § 32-1124 requires the ROC number on advertising unless the ad links to a site that prominently displays it.
Google Ads: the most expensive lead in home services
LocaliQ's 2025 Search Ad Benchmarks for Home Services put roofing and gutters at $10.70 per click, a 3.70% conversion rate and $228.15 per lead, the highest cost per lead of any category in the report. Only about 1 click in 27 becomes a lead at that rate, so the landing page matters as much as the bid.
An illustration, not a forecast:
- $3,000 a month in ad spend, paid straight to Google.
- At $228.15 per lead, about 13 leads.
- If you inspect 10 and sign 3, each signed roof cost you about $1,000 in ad spend.
- Our management fee is a flat $300 a month on top.
Whether that works depends on your average roof value and margin. For most roofers the real lever is the inspection-to-contract rate, which is an operations number, not an ad number.
Roofers are on Google's Local Services Ads list, with business, owner and insurance checks before the ad runs. After a storm, we tighten location targeting to the affected ZIP codes you can actually serve, and the NOAA Storm Events Database is a free way to check where hail was reported. Automations that fit how roofing runs
- Claim file per job. Inspection photos, the adjuster's name and meeting date, the scope of loss and the signed contract are filed together automatically, named by address.
- Adjuster-meeting reminders. The homeowner and your rep both get a reminder the day before the adjuster visit, with the address and time.
- Scope-of-loss extraction. The insurer's PDF is read and the line items land in your estimate sheet for comparison, so you spot missing items without retyping. See document data extraction.
- Post-install review and warranty letter. When the final invoice is paid, the warranty document goes out and every customer gets the same review request.
An illustration of the claim-file work, assumptions written out: 20 insurance jobs a month, 90 minutes each spent chasing and renaming documents, and $25 an hour for office time is about $750 a month, before counting the jobs that stall because a document went missing.
If you text homeowners, get consent first; TCPA rules apply, and the FCC has confirmed AI-generated voices count as "artificial" under the law.
| Today | After |
|---|---|
| Claim documents scattered across phones and inboxes | One folder per address, filled automatically |
| Adjuster meetings missed or rescheduled | Reminders to homeowner and rep the day before |
| Scope of loss retyped line by line | Line items read from the insurer's PDF |
| Reviews requested when someone remembers | Every paid job gets the same request |
Honest limits
If you do mostly commercial or new-construction roofing, Google Ads for homeowners will be expensive noise. And if you close fewer than a quarter of your inspections, fix the sales process before you add ad spend. More leads at $228 each will not fix that.
No lock-in
The ad account, the site and the workflows are in your name. Management is month to month with 30 days' notice, and your team decides which jobs and claims to take on.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a roofing lead cost on Google Ads?
LocaliQ's 2025 home services benchmarks put roofing and gutters at an average of $228.15 per lead, the highest of any home services category, with $10.70 per click and a 3.70% conversion rate. Local competition and storm activity move those numbers a lot.
Can a roofer advertise that they will cover the insurance deductible?
Not in Texas. Business and Commerce Code section 27.02 prohibits paying, waiving, absorbing or rebating a deductible without the insurer's consent, and it is a Class B misdemeanor. Take any such line out of your ads and your site.
Do roofers need a license in Texas?
There is no statewide roofing license in Texas. A bill in the 2025 session, HB 3344, would have created one at TDLR but did not get past the House calendar. Cities may still require registration and permits, so check locally.
Are roofers eligible for Local Services Ads?
Yes. Roofers are on Google's Local Services Ads category list, and Google checks the business, the owner, and liability insurance before the ad goes live.
Should a roofing company run ads all year?
Most do, at different levels. A steady budget between storms keeps retail reroofs and repairs coming and gives the account conversion data, and after a storm you raise the budget in the ZIP codes that were hit.
